These are 5 street food options which offer the most blood sugar-balancing benefits.
1) Tandoori chicken is cooked in a tandoor – a clay oven which does not require much oil, this chicken can be prepared for a protein-packed meal on the go, often with less calories and fat than grilled or fried chicken. And Tandoori chicken is also often marinated in yogurt, which can supply a variety of heart-aiding, diabetes-fighting nutrients, including calcium, magnesium, phosphorus, potassium, riboflavin, and vitamin B12.
2) Authentic street tacos contain fresh, nutritionally-packed ingredients, including lean protein choices, blood sugar-balancing veggies, and heart-aiding herbs and spices. You can find street tacos with grilled chicken breast or fish, both of which supply protein to slow the digestive process. This, in turn, slows the release of glucose into your blood stream.
3) Made with a base of coconut or almond milk, with a variety of fresh tropical fruits, granola, nuts and seeds, and berries, acai smoothie bowls supply diabetes-fighting antioxidants, protein, complex carbohydrates, and fiber. Research shows that the antioxidant plant sterols in acai berries may help keep cholesterol from oxidizing, thus helping reduce the risk of arterial plaque build-up.
4) Pho is a Vietnamese soup that is low in fat and calories, and it contains an array of nutritionally-dense ingredients, like carrots, chili peppers, cilantro, mushrooms, garlic, ginger, green onions, and chicken. It also supplies a large helping of protein, with a large dose of both vitamin A and vitamin C, plus calcium, choline, iron, magnesium and selenium..
5) Ceviche is like a cross between sushi and salsa, and it's low in fat and calories, but still gives you essential fatty acids and an incredible assortment of diabetes-fighting nutrients. The fresh fish provides heart-aiding omega-3 fatty acids, and the other salsa-like ingredients of ceviche, like chili peppers, red onions, diced tomatoes, bell peppers, and cilantro, supply a range of diabetes-fighting micronutrients, including CAPSAICIN, LYCOPENE, TERPINENE, QUERCETIN, plus vitamins A, C, E, K, and various B vitamins.
Boy have you made my day! Of the foreign foods that I absolutely love are Tandoori Chicken,
Tacos, and Pho. It’s nice to know as a a diabetic that these foods are not harmful to me. Where I live we cant get acai or cerviche but I ,may be able to make the latter with raw salmon at home

I’m not about to trade my home in a small town surrounded by ocean and mountains for life in the city, but I do sometimes envy the wider variety of food shopping choices. All we have here for street food is a taco truck during the summer. There’s lots of good stuff available in restaurants for take-out, though.
