I am grateful for the meal suggestions. I try to keep my meals 6, 12, 12 carbs per meal. Doing that I do not need any meds and my blood sugars stays 79 – 100.
Of course that means I can not have the bread, but I feel so much better for not having it.
As always Tom you make such a difference in so many lives! Thank you again for sharing your time, knowledge, and wisdom!!!
My pleasure! Thanks for your kind feedback!
Thank you . That was really helpful
For anyone in the US looking to make these recipes, please note that the coriander here is what we call cilantro. In the US, the only coriander we have is the seed, the herb of the plant is called cilantro. On another note, I have had type 1 for about 13 years now and have been low carb from the beginning. I would still need to bolus for these meals, even though they are low carb. I think once I started ketosis, I noticed that I needed to bolus for protein and fat even with minimal carbs. Of course, I don’t need to bolus very much, maybe 3-5 units depending on how much protein is in the meal. If one is not low carb, I am pretty sure that they probably would not need to bolus. These look very tasty! Especially the chicken curry soup!
I do a chopped salad with avocado, Roma tomato and cucumber and carrot (peeling skin off cucumber and carrot), romaine lettuce, garlic, red wine vinegar, salt and pepper and garlic powder (I love garlic). I can eat this daily and love that I don’t have to heat up the kitchen cooking. I sometimes add other things especially fruits like chopped apple if I am out of avocado and lemon juice.
Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks, Tom, for having such an awesome channel. You are always uplifting and informative in your videos and comments, and you are very kind and encouraging in the comments of fellow diabetic youtubers. It is so great to see!
Thank you so much!
Hello Tom! Recently found your channel. Loving all the info you are sharing. Very relevant to me as a 30+ year Type 1 who started CGM 3 years ago and insulin pump 1 year ago. Technology has opened my eyes and armed me with information I need to start managing better. Love the recipes. You should do a few more videos like this. Answerd Klinio App questionnaire, but got “server error” when I tried to get my plan and purchase. Just wondering if others are having same problem. Keep up the good work! Your videos are full of useful info and I think you should have a MUCH bigger audience.
….and can you share your favorite brand of protein bread? Haven’t tried any brands yet, but during my research I found many brands out there that look unappealing….like cardboard. Yours in the video looks delicious!
@Tammy Bain the other day i bought a loaf of sourdough. i was able to eat 1 slice on an open face sandwich. “tuna melt”
it was so good. lol. i peaked out at 132. not too bad. not something i can eat every day. but on very rare occasions.
@nunya bizness a bolus is a dose of insulin.
@Julilla ahhh….thank you!
I thought what u call cilantro we call rocket
@Sue Lynton-jenkins I just had a look because I’ve heard “rocket” on British cooking shows and never knew what it is. Here in the US we call it “arugula”.
I’m a type 1 diabetic without insulin (for now). I recently found out that any salad combined with olives, garlic, feta, tuna, walnuts, cucumber and roma tomatoes makes a very tasty combination even without any dressing. It also contains a ton of calories thanks to a lot of healthy fats and there are only very small amounts of carbs in the nuts/cucumber/tomatoes. All ingredients are supposed to contain substances that help suppress inflammation (in case you hope to protect what’s left of the pancreas) and improve cardiovascular health.
This was super helpful! My dad has diabetes so we have to learn/do research on what foods he can/not eat (that’s also VERY tasty).
Hi Tom. I’ve recently adopted your items into my Meal Plans for my Weightlifting & Bodybuilding program & I’d be grateful if I could get a breakdown of the Macros (proteins / fats / carbs per serving) of each of the recipes here – I’m particularly fond of the Green Chicken Curry Soup & the Chicken & Zucchini Meatballs. Please & Thank You.
I Wish Restaurants Would Consider Diabetic Friendly Meals On Their Menus. I Wish There Were Restaurants That Would Listen to The Diabetic Population.
Hi I am also diabetic patient
Can you explain , what food you take in breakfast, lunch and dinner?
Excellent recipes! For the Tuna Salad: Remember to look at the ingredients of your pickles. Especially in the US, those contain A Lot of added sugar or (the horror) artificial sweeteners, maybe not the best choice to add as a juice to the salad. In countries where the pickles are actually fermented (some EU countries) the juice is safe, healthy and delicious.
You can also add canned cod liver to the salad, for some added omegas.
For the cauliflower: I like to toss that in the airfryer. Crispy goodness!
Sounds great. No oil, which is great.
I just found out I’m at a high risk for diabetes so this has definitely helped. Thank you!
Am so happy to say this here that I am now HSV free with the help of Dretiko who I discover his YouTube channel.

Thanks, this recipe with avocado and tomatoes, it is really delicious! I am not diabetic at this moment, but I struggle with high insulin, and I need to reduce carbs, finding alternatives how to feed myself. And your channel will help me with that!
@Cindy Gardner sola bread is full of refined fiber and very much can spike blood sugar. None of the keto breads on the market are really diabetic friendly.
@Worship the Creator keto breads are full of altered and refined fibers that can very much spike blood sugar. Trust me, I’ve tried them. They aren’t diabetic friendly.
I have reactive hypoglycemia and can barely eat anything in restaurants now.
There’s an average of 1-3 menu items I can have from most places they’re pretty much all some form of salad.
I never realized how hard things were for diabetics until developing this condition.
I still don’t have a diagnosis, doesn’t seem to be diabetes since I do produce insulin and it seems to be too much, in fact.. But the dietary restrictions are essentially the same.
@Sue Lynton-jenkins some of us call it the soap herb lol
@Korsalath my local pub serves curries with rice, chips, naan bread and poppadoms…quadruple carbs is off the menu for me!
In fact nobody should be eating quadruple carbs…
I guess I have a pretty decent mental carb calculator, I can look at a plate and mentally break it down into carbs with most foods but I also cook regularly and have been weighing my food for awhile now which definitely helps especially with things like bread and fruits

These recipes look divine.
I really like these, considering that it’s so hard to eat healthy when I’m tried in the morning and I automatically choose something pre-packaged from the fridge. These look very simple to do even when I’m tired!!
New subscriber. Getting the family healthier after the holiday season. Thank you so much for this great information. Happy holidays.
Thank you so much!!
or even just put the carbs of the meals on their menus, Would make eating at local or fancier restaurants when you can’t just look up the nutrition on their website would make eating out so much easier
I’ve been trying to learn dishes to cook for my father to help with his blood sugar and had no idea where to start but your video really helped. Thank you for making this! <3
Very soon they would! They know that if they don’t, they would be losing MANY sales! The restaurant that I often visit makes me steamed vegetables and shrimp just the way I asked them!
