Has anyone tried the chia pudding? I’m wondering what the texture is like. As far as the other desserts go: (1) The only way I’d eat banana ice cream is if it was the only thing standing between me and starvation. (2) I eat Greek yogurt and fruit all the time, but I probably would never bother to make popsicles with it. (3) I eat strawberries and dark chocolate, but would rather eat them separately. And I’m careful to eat only home-grown or organic strawberries, as they are one of the Dirty Dozen as far as pesticides go. (4) Baked apples are fine. (5) No opinion on the pudding, as I’ve never tried it.
Banana smoothies raised my blood sugar levels to pre diabetic levels. Once I removed bananas and reduced fruit consumption except berries , kiwi apple and lemon it was normal.

Chia pudding topped with cinnamon apples for Breakfast is good.
Bananas are NOT low on the glycemic index and have no more potassium than other fruits. Greek Yogurt has more milk solids than regular yogurt which contains lactose or milk sugar. Add fruit to that, even berries, and you are getting more sugar than diabetics should have especially after the carbs they’ve consumed during a meal.
I’m afraid this submitter has ruined his own credibility.
Banana is number one when it comes to carbs, is the highest carbs in fruits… this is giving wrong information. If you are hypoglycemic which mean you low in sugar or your body does not produce enough insulin, then yes banana is a choice for you to spike the sugar. If you are diabetic you want to avoid banana or at least eat half of it if you cannot live without i.
I made chia pudding for the first time today! It was so good and easy. I took a cup of milk and 2 Tbsps Chia seeds and mixed them with 2 packets stevia and a handful of walnuts. Refrigerate for at least an hour. DELICIOUS!
This doesn’t sound right because one banana by itself has as much carbs as a candy bar. It definitely raises your blood sugar and not just a little bit.

As a diabetic I still like to enjoy my ice cream every now and then but since I can’t stand the flavor of bananas I’d substitute that with blueberries instead.
It raises mine really bad.
Try lactose free yogurt, milk and ice cream. Kroger makes the Carbmaster brand and the yogurt is 5 carbs, ice cream is cut in half and they even have Carbmaster cottage cheese with fruit that’s really low. Bananas are a no no, most of these would raise my blood sugar so high. Don’t recommend using these recipes at all.

They also say that dark chocolate is good for you, but dark chocolate contains caffeine which shoots my blood sugar up.
I came across a comment saying that cutting out caffeine could get type 1 diabetics back to the way they were before, so I cut out caffeine and my blood sugars went into normal ranges given the sweet things I was having when I would eat sweet things along with a cup of coffee.

@Tete Start off reducing it even by a small amount and then eventually bring it down to zero. I have gone the extra mile and won’t take anything that has cocoa in it as well. I would have a cup of coffee with two plain sugar sprinkled doughnuts and going by my ratio of 1 unit of Novo rapid insulin to 15 carbohydrates, 3 and a half units should of covered this, but no, it didn’t.
Even 4 units will not leave my blood sugar in a normal range, so I decided to cut out caffeine and have the same doughnuts with a cup of non caffeinated tea, which was mint tea from M&S.
I knew that I didn’t need 4 units of insulin because there wasn’t going to be any caffeine in this mint tea, so I was expecting to have a high blood sugar by taking 2.5 units of insulin, but my blood sugar was not high and when I say high I am talking about 8.5 to 10.3 or anything above this.
I was surprised at the small amount of insulin I needed to have two doughnuts and be in a normal blood sugar range, I have had coffee in in coffee shops with sandwiches and wondered why I was higher than I should be and finally found the reason why.
Caffeine.
Cutting it all out in one go is not the way to do it because you will feel annoyed at everything and will feel crazy, so instead of cutting it down by half in the beginning, start off by reducing it by a 1/4 each day that passes, this should greatly reduce the coming off effects of it.
Once you get off of it you will have actual energy instead of your adrenal glands being constantly maxed by the caffeine.

i tried this the other month. surprisingly, they don’t taste too much like banana! I blend with a small amount of oil and add vanilla essence.

I could’ve sworn the man said the greener the better in bananas. The green bananas have a low glycemic index then yellow bananas which has a high glycemic index.
Yellow or ripe bananas contain less resistant starch than green bananas, as well as more sugar, which is more quickly absorbed than starch.
This means that fully ripe bananas have a higher GI and will cause your blood sugar to rise faster than green or unripe bananas.
SUMMARY
Green (unripe) bananas contain resistant starch, which doesn’t raise blood sugar levels and may improve long-term blood sugar management. Yellow, ripe bananas contain more sugar than green ones, so they may cause a bigger rise in your blood sugar level.
The only thing about freezing yogurt is it kills the live bacteria for the prebiotic. However if your not into that and just want an ice cream alternative, that would be fine.

@Diana Morris protein doesn’t slow the absorption of sugar significantly. Fat does, but that’s besides the point. You shouldn’t be eating sugar and bananas are sugar plain and simple.
This is a deeply irresponsible video.
Even as a diabetic you should eat healthy foods such as fruit, just have to be careful with portions and frequency. This includes ones on the higher GI as some have excellent nutrients not present in other foods, or less quantity etc.
For example, in general a diabetic should avoid “regularly” eating bananas, but it’s perfectly fine to eat a moderated amount, like once a week with other days better choices such as berries.
Some of you are just quoting black and white arguments, it’s just not as simple as that. Especially when you drill down and realise the other ingredients in some foods that on face value are supposedly to be avoided, such as containing lots of fibre etc.
smoothies should be avoided because as a liquid the original ingredient (banana etc) is now very dense, meaning in a small glass you ingest a large amount of the original ingredient.
It’s the same with the ice cream in the video. As always, a treat is fine, just have to find what “moderation” is reasonable for your particular body.
@James Foo the only thing fruit provides that vegetables don’t is sugar. Diabetics absolutely should not look on fruit as something OK in moderation, any more than they should starchy food and candy. Very low GI fruit like strawberries are OK, but many aren’t – especially bananas.
Diabetes is black and white – eating carbs causes a dangerous elevation in blood glucose and the only cure for it is drastic action (cutting carbs).
Any possible benefit of fibre is far outweighed by the morbid outcomes of diabetes.
More importantly and long reaching, consuming sugar in any form causes an increase of insulin level which adds to metabolic disorder, hypertension, diabetes, and hyperlipidemia. One does not NEED fruit, grains or products made from them in their diet. An occasional treat is understandable but every day diet should not include them.

*My daughter drinks lots of water and urinates with the same rate, there are no other symptoms to show if those have anything to do with diabetes. This is a good information that I have gone through **Diabets.Care** She is 2 years 9 months, hale and healthy, have not done any blood test. But I am not certain if one can get diabetes at such a tender age. Please I will like to know more on that*
